Sampling Cornish fayre at Delicious deli and cafe in Marazion

Being South African, a dip in the English sea, even cocooned in my wetsuit, leaves me frozen to the bone, and there is only one solution to this – a Cornish Cream Tea! Thankfully I have discovered the perfect place to indulge in one – a little deli in Marazion, aptly named Delicious, tucked away at the top of the main road. Abby, the owner, is really friendly and welcoming, and you can tell she has spent a lot of time and energy making her deli just perfect!

Tastefully decorated with painted furniture, jugs of flowers and pretty cushions in the window seats, it’s a great place to watch the world go by – and warm up! After a ‘refreshing’ swim in the bay in front of St Michaels Mount, the Cream Tea was, well, delicious! The scones were fresh and golden brown and the strawberry jam was very tasty. I think it may have had a hint of something, but I forgot to ask. We also stopped in for breakfast one morning and were served up scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, and a Full English, all cooked up from scratch using fresh, local produce.

It’s also highly tempting to takeaway too, for the shelves are stocked with everything you may need for your kitchen or a picnic basket. There is a huge range of Cornish products including chutneys and jams, sausages, cheeses, smoked mackerel, wines, Roskilly’s ice cream, as well as chocolate from the Kernow Chocolate Company and crisps from the Cornish Crisp Company. All in all, it’s a delicious place that we will certainly head back to next time we’re visiting.
